Brush fire on Neversink Mountain

smokey

On May 24 Mt. Penn was dispatched along with Exeter (co25), Gibralter (Co23) and Alsace Manor (Co8) to assist Lower Alsace (Co4) for a brush fire in the area of the Witches Hat pavillion on Neversink Mountain.  On arrival crews found a working brush fire involving the brush and trees in the area.  Once access was gained the fire was knocked down with extensive overhaul performed and the scene was turned over to Forestry (Co81).  Crews responded back to this location at approximately 8:45am on Memorial Day for a rekindle of the fire which was quickly handled.

With the dry conditions we have been having please be careful in the woods with any open heat sources such as cigarettes or camp fires.  Make sure they are completely out and no embers remain.
