It seems that Christmas 2017 is upon us. Like many, we are sure you are wondering where this year went! As we get gifts, prepare food, decorate and look forward to getting together with family and friends let’s keep things safe. The last thing you want to do is see the fire department at your house, especially on Christmas Day!
Here are a few reminders about that beautiful tree you have in your home:
Keep the tree at least three feet away from any heat source such as fireplaces, radiators and candles.
Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit.
Be sure to check the tree and add water daily to prevent it from drying out.
Make sure that any lights going on the tree are in good working order with no frayed or damaged cords or bulbs.
Never use lit candles as decoration on the tree.
Dispose of the tree after Christmas.
Christmas tree fires are not common but when they do happen they are more likely to be serious. A heat source too close to the tree causes 1 of 4 tree fires. Don’t let it happen to you!
The officers and firefighters at Mt. Penn wish you a Merry Christmas!
