MtPennLA

On June 22 shortly before 5a.m. Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace (Co 4) were dispatched with Squad 555 (Lower Alsace EMS) to the area of 39 N. 23rd St. in the borough for a reported vehicle crash with unknown injuries.  Deputy 1 (Wertz) arrived to find one vehicle into a parked car with one male still inside but not trapped and possibly suffering from an unknown medical issue.  Once crews arrived they assisted EMS with getting him out of the vehicle and into the ambulance for treatment and transport to the hospital.

In the process of powering down the vehicle and controlling fluids down it was discovered that a second parked vehicle had also been struck further down the street in the area of N. 23rd & Grant St.  Other than damage to the bumper area, no further action was needed on this one.  Crews stood by until the tow company arrived and removed the heavily damaged car.  The crash is under investigation by the Central Berks Regional Police.
