Mt. Penn assists Lower Alsace on vehicle crash

MtPennLA

On June 23rd just before 11p.m.Rescue 1 was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace (Co 4) for a vehicle crash at Skyline Drive and List Rd. in the township.  The police on scene had also requested EMS to respond for patient evaluations.  Two vehicles going opposite directions on Skyline Drive had apparently collided head on.  Arriving crews had 2 vehicles approximately 150 feet apart with debris scattered across that area and a large amount of fluids down.  The engine to one vehicle did a disappearing act and was located in the woods about 10 yards off of the roadway by use of a thermal imaging camera.  Despite the severity of this crash, all involved parties were able to walk away with only some bumps and bruises thanks to seatbelts and airbags.  Crews from both companies spent the next hour controlling the fluids down, powering down the involved vehicles and assisting the tow company with debris removal and were able to return to station shortly after midnight.  This crash is under investigation by the Central Berks Regional Police.
