Well, the past week or so has been steady around the station with all sorts of things. We have assisted on several fire alarms in Lower Alsace and St. Lawrence as well as two vehicle crashes in Lower Alsace. Adding to the mix was a grease fire in Mt. Penn that was quickly handled and a structure fire in Exeter Township at Custom Processing that was contained to the bag house and ductwork and was handled in less than 2 hours by the responding crews.
Several personnel also began the Department of Health Vehicle Rescue Technician (VRT) class at the station Tuesday night. This is an extensive training course which includes classroom work on vehicle construction, stabilization and disassembly as well as practical, hands on field scenarios with a written and practical exam at the end of the course.
The highlight of the week was the delivery to the station of the new to us and soon to be Rescue 1 which will replace the 1994 Ford/Swab rescue truck.
