May is off to a quick start for Mt. Penn. We have already responded to 9 calls this month. It has been the usual mix of things, brush fire, medical assist, CO alarm, RIT, wires down. On April 11th just before 1:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company for a working structure fire in the 1600 block of W. Philadelphia Avenue(Route 73). On March 21st shortly before 5p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with Reading City and other companies to a reported brush fire near Klapperthal Junction in Cumru Twp. Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
