3 Alarm Cumru Township Fire

On May 13 shortly after 4:30a.m. Engine 1 was dispatched to assist Cumru Township(Co 42) on the second alarm for a structure fire in the 700 block of Philadelphia Ave. The first arriving crews were faced with heavy smoke and fire from 2 homes with extension to 2 other homes & reported entrapment. The second alarm was quickly struck. Several lines were stretched as ladders were being put in place. Heavy fire and smoke were encountered in multiple homes with partial roof collapse taking place. A 3rd alarm was struck for additional manpower due to the warm and humid conditions as well as the amount of work to be accomplished. The fire was placed under control about 7:30a.m. with extensive overhaul needed. Unfortunately, one resident was unable to escape. This fire is under investigation by the Cumru Twp. Police and the State Police Fire Marshal.
