Mt. Penn Fire Company

Amity structure fire

On October 21 about 11:15a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched to assist Monocacy (Co6) and Amity (Co49) as the RIT company to 66 Mildred Ave. in Amity Twp. for a reported structure fire.  Berks Radio had advised they received numerous calls reporting smoke and flames from the address.  First arriving units found a well involved mobile home with visible smoke and fire.  Due to the limited staffing available, the RIT was stood down and its members were used to assist in fire extinguishment as well as ventilation and overhaul.  The family is being assisted by the Red Cross as it appears the home may be a total loss.  The exact cause of this fire remains under investigation.  Crews were able return to station shortly after 1p.m.
