Assist to Amity on garage fire

On November 27 just after 12 noon the Rescue was dispatched as RIT to assist Amity Township with a reported structure fire in 40x60ft detached garage at 184 Valley Rd.  PD and responding fire units reported a heavy column of smoke visible from some distance out.  On arrival they found a well involved 2 story garage that also had flammable materials stored inside.  Due to the amount of fire and daytime manpower the crew from R1 was put to work to assist with fire attack and a second company was called to perform RIT.  A second alarm was struck to bring additional tankers to the scene as well to provide a water supply.  Other companies were dispatched to cover empty stations.  The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes with extensive overhaul required.  Crews were able to begin clearing just before 2p.m.  The cause remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
