Mt. Penn Fire Company

Birdsboro Structure

On August 8, shortly before 3:30a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with several other companies to assist Birdsboro(Co7) on a reported structure fire on N. Walnut St. PD arrived within minutes and confirmed a working structure fire. First arriving units also confirmed a power line down across N. Walnut St. Crews quickly pulled several lines and knocked down much of the visible fire as Ladder 1 & Quint 6 crews set up for roof work and with Rescue Engine 25 searched the building with negative results. A second alarm was called by command for manpower due to the warm & humid weather. Crews chased small pockets of remaining fire for a while during overhaul and units were able to begin clearing shortly before 6:30a.m. The cause of this fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal. We extend our thanks to Blandon Fire Co(Co12) and Western Berks Fire(Co18) for covering our station while we were out and covering a carbon monoxide call in Lower Alsace.
