Mt. Penn Fire Company

Early Morning Oley Fire

On November 2nd, just after midnight, Ladder 1 was dispatched along with several other companies to assist Oley(Co5) with a reported structure fire in the 500 block of Manatawny Rd. near the border with Earl Township. Berks Radio gave an update of multiple callers and the police reported smoke showing from several miles out. First arriving units were faced with a fully involved structure and Oley command quickly notified units that it was exterior attack only. Fortunately all occupants had safely escaped and were quickly accounted for. Crews used several lines to bring the fire under control shortly before 1a.m. although crews spent several more hours performing overhaul of what turned out to be 2 separate homes involved. The exact cause of this fire is under investigation by Oley Fire Company and the State Police Fire Marshal.
