Mt. Penn Fire Company

Fire on the Mountain

On April 17 at 12:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace (Co4), Reading City and several other county companies on a working brush fire on Neversink Mountain.  Pinpointing the exact location initially proved challenging as Berks Radio was getting several calls from multiple areas around the mountain reporting the fire.  It was eventually determined to be in Lower Alsace Township and units made access from South 20th St as well as going around South 9th St to the old Whitey O’Neils dump.  Through hard work units were able to surround, contain and extinguish the fire and units began to go available by 2:30p.m.
