Hey parents, looking for something to do this Saturday morning? Bring the kids to the Exeter Home Depot from 9a.m. until 12 noon. Not only can they get an up close look at different types of fire trucks and meet the local firefighters but they can participate in the October Kids Workshop where the kids will be building their very own firehouse bank! It’s a great way to start off Fire Prevention Week, the theme of which is “Every Second Counts”…plan two ways out.
Here are some tips from the NFPA:
•Practice your home fire drill twice a year. Conduct one at night and one during the day with everyone in your home, and practice using different ways out.
•Teach children how to escape on their own in case you can’t help them.
•Make sure the number of your home is clearly marked and easy for the fire department to find.
•Close doors behind you as you leave – this may slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire.
•Once you get outside, stay outside. Never go back inside a burning building
