Ladder 1 assists Amity on Structure Fire

mtpennlogo

On July 26 about 6:15p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched along with both Amity companies (49 & 6) as well as  Birdsboro (Co7), Exeter (Co25) and Earl Twp (Co19) to 119 Old Swede Rd. for a reported structure fire.  One of the home’s occupants was cooking when the contents of the pan caught fire and quickly spread to the rest of the kitchen.  Fortunately everybody, even the pets, at 119 and the adjoining home at 117 were able to safely escape.  Arriving units found a working fire in the kitchen which they were able to contain and knock down in 10 minutes although both homes had extensive smoke damage.  Overhaul took another hour with crews being frequently rotated due to the hot and humid weather.  Damage is estimated to be about $35,000.  Ladder 1 returned to station shortly after 7:30p.m.
