This weekend is the unofficial start of the summer season with Memorial Day arriving after a cool and wet spring. While you are out and about with friends and family take some time to remember those who sacrificed their very lives for this great nation of ours. Mt. Penn will be remembering, along with many other organizations, at the American Legion Parade in Exeter Township on Monday, May 28th. The parade begins at 9a.m. from the high school and proceeds to Forest Hills Cemetary for a short ceremony.
This is also the time of year that backyard barbeques, fireworks and vacations really get started. School is done in just a few weeks and soon there will be extra people out and about on the roads. Many roads in Berks County are also under construction that will last through the summer and beyond. Whatever you do, driving, vacation, road trip or just spending time with family and friends at home, please be careful and have a wonderful holiday weekend!
