On July 16th right around noon Mt. Penn & several mutual aid companies were dispatched for a structure fire at 217 Friedensburg Rd. Arriving units had a working porch fire with extension to the roof & dormer area. A second alarm for manpower was called soon after. The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes but crews remained on location for over an hour checking for extension & overhauling the area. Fortunately all residents of this apartment building safely evacuated & are being assisted by the Red Cross. The exact cause is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
