Mt. Penn Fire Company

Reading City 2nd alarm

On February 19th just before 1a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with several other county companies to assist the Reading Fire Department at 450 Mulberry St. for a second alarm structure fire. Arriving city units had heavy fire showing on arrival from the front of 448 Mulberry St. and quickly pulled several lines and began fire attack while searching the home which was reported to be vacant. Due to the volume of fire and the extension to adjoining homes arriving county units lent a hand with extinguishment, ventilation and overhaul. Fortunately the structure was vacant and those in neighboring homes evacuated safely. The county units were able to begin clearing shortly before 2a.m. The cause of this fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
