RIT Crew responds to Exeter

On May 2nd shortly after 2a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company to assist Exeter(Co25) and several other companies for a possible structure fire at Total Recycle located at 1270 Lincoln Rd. in the township. Chief 25(Bickings) reported smoke in the building on his arrival and was advised of a fire in the sorting/conveyor machine that was approximately 80ft long. Access proved difficult due to the limited number and size of openings in the system. K12 saws with metal cutting blades were used to make access to the machine and extinguish the fire. Crews were on the scene for several hours accomplishing this difficult task and were able to begin clearing the scene shortly after 6a.m.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
