Mt. Penn Fire Company

Snowy & cold Amity Structure Fire

On January 29th, just before 8a.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched along with several other companies to the 100 block of Fancy Hill Rd. in Amity Township for a reported structure fire. Initial reports were that the occupant heard a noise and when they checked the attic HVAC unit there were flames inside. Responding units had a slow go as the roads were snow covered and slick along with gusty winds and temperatures in the teens.

On arrival Asst. 49 reported smoke from the roofline and called a working fire. Engine 49(Amity) and Quint 6(Monarch) made quick work of the well involved attic space on their arrival, getting the fire under control with one line. A second line was pulled as a backup and a second alarm was struck for manpower but shortly recalled. As other units arrived they assisted with final extinguishment and overhaul. Fortunately the occupants and all of their pets were able to be safely evacuated. Units were able to begin clearing the scene shortly after 9a.m. The exact cause of this fire remains under investigation.
