Structure fire assist in Union

On October 11 shortly before 11a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with numerous companies from Chester & Montgomery Counties, as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) for a structure fire in Union Township to assist Birdsboro/Union FD (Co7).  Arriving units at 335 Woodglen Rd. found a well involved house fire that quickly caused the roof to collapse and involve the rest of the structure.  A second alarm was struck for additional manpower and tanker trucks as their are no hydrants in the area and the fire was also spreading to the nearby woods.  RIT was stood down as all personnel were put to work containing the fire and performing overhaul.  The house was completely destroyed.  Crews were able to begin clearing shortly after 12 noon.  The fire is under investigation by the PA State Police Fire Marshall.

This residence belongs to a Monocacy firefighter and his family and they lost everything they had.  Donation information can be obtained by contacting the Exeter Twp. or Monarch Fire Companies.  A Go-Fund me page has also been set up for monetary donations.  You can go here to contribute:
