On October 16 just about 6p.m. the rescue was dispatched to the 500 block of Antietam Rd. in Alsace Township to assist Co8 (Alsace Manor) for a vehicle crash, unknown injuries and a pole struck with wires down. On arrival the crews found one vehicle with heavy front end damage and a pole completely sheared off with numerous power, phone and cable wires down. The occupant had gotten out of the vehicle on her own and was uninjured. Crews powered the down the vehicle and applied oil dry to downed fluids which included the contents of an electrical transformer that had come down with the pole. Mt. Penn was released within 20 minutes while Co 8 continued to stand by for traffic control and await the arrival of Met-Ed to make repairs.
