Mt. Penn Fire Company

Assist on Structure Fire

On August 20 at 8p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company to assist Blandon (Co12) on a reported structure fire at 1161 Park Rd in Maidencreek Twp.  The first arriving personnel there conferred with an employee and it was determined that the fire was actually in the 300 block of Dryville Rd. in Richmond Twp.  Apparatus initially dispatched was redirected to the new location and Berks Communications dispatched the correct run card for that location.  Arriving personnel reported a working fire and quickly called for a second alarm to supply water and additional manpower.  After a brief interior attack all crews were evacuated from the building as the roof began to collapse.  Exterior operations continued and the fire was placed under control shortly after 9p.m.  Mt. Penn stood by as RIT until released at 10p.m.  The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
