Assist to Exeter on serious crash

On April 30, shortly after 8p.m. Rescue 1 was dispatched to assist Exeter(Co25) to 37th St. and Perkiomen Ave. for a vehicle crash with entrapment, multiple patients. On arrival there were two cars with 3 people trapped on the eastbound side of the road. The occupants of one car were freed quickly and sent off to the hospital with EMS. The second patient required more extensive extrication which was completed in about 15 minutes using both sets of rescue tools from Exeter and Mt. Penn. Once freed they were taken to Reading Hospital with serious injuries. Rescue 1 was able to clear shortly before 9p.m. The spill trailer from Mt. Penn was then requested to handle the large amounts of fluids, mostly motor oil, that was down in the roadway. This was accomplished by 9:30p.m. when units were able to finally clear. The crash is under investigation by the Exeter Twp. Police Dept.
