It sure is! Combined with rain, wind, snow and ice and now Arctic temperatures. There has been a significant increase in fire calls all around the county for trees and wires down, vehicle crashes, cooking fires, structure fires and carbon monoxide alarms. We are no exception having logged almost 50 calls this year! As these conditions persist, we urge you to make sure you have working smoke alarms and CO detectors in your home. If you are using an auxiliary heater make sure your electrical system in your home is capable of handling the increased power demand. Make sure to keep your sidewalks and nearby fire hydrant clear of snow and ice. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. Drive a little bit slower in poor conditions. A little bit of common sense and caring goes a long way!
