CARBON MONOXIDE PROBLEM

On March 20th just after 9:30a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with Exeter Twp(Co25) to the Autozone in St. Lawrence for an odor of gas in the building. Arriving units had 50+ parts per million(ppm) of carbon monoxide on entry to the store. Further monitoring of the store led to readings of almost 100ppm. The source was traced to a storage garage on the lower level of the building where it was found a car had been running for almost an hour prior which led to the high readings. The building was ventilated with exhaust fans until 0ppm was reached. During the carbon monoxide incident crews also discovered a natural gas leak at the meter. UGI was notified to handle that problem. Crews were able to clear a little over an hour after dispatche.
