First arriving Deputy 1-1(Kline) had nothing showing on arrival, but further investigation soon found smoke from the second and thir [...]
Here we are, smack in the middle of Fire Prevention Week. The theme put out this year by the NFPA is Cooking safety starts with YOU! Pay attention to fire prevention
When you think about it, it’s true. We all spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen, getting a cup of coffee, grabbing a snack from the fridge or cooking a meal [...]
It was quite the busy few days over this past weekend at Mt. Penn. Aside from a few calls here and there, dayroom renovations are complete except for a few small details. Rescue 1 assisted with lighting at Rita’s for a Friday night fundraiser in honor and memory of a well-known local resident who recently passed away too soon. W [...]

It’s been a long summer at Station 1 with our dayroom renovations. Hot & humid too as the “temporary” dayroom was out on the apparatus floor which doesn’t have air conditioning. The crew made do with a fan or two to keep air moving. Not very relaxing at all!
Now we can see the end is in sight. Only a fe [...]
Just when things seemed to be settling down with the kids back to school and the Labor Day holiday behind us the area was hit with severe storms again which brought down trees, wires and poles. Fortunately, there was no flooding as with the July storms. Many areas from Lower Alsace up the mountain into Alsace Township suffered power out [...]

Renovations on the station are progressing well. It’s been a long month with lots of work accomplished by the contractors and the truck crew. The new floors are in, and the painting is complete! New chairs have been delivered along with the cabinets and appliances. In the next few weeks things should be finished up and we can start [...]
On July 9th our area experienced severe and prolonged rain starting in the early afternoon and continuing until evening which quickly caused Antietam Creek to overflow which appears to be the root cause of most of the problems that arose in the Antietam area. During this storm Mt. Penn, along with Exeter(Co25), Lower Alsace(Co4) and several [...]
