E1 assists City of Reading

MtPennRFDOn April 21 just before 11:00am E1 was dispatched along with Lower Alsace (Co 4) to the 400 block of S. 16th St in the City of Reading to assist on a reported structure fire which had originally been dispatched as a vehicle crash and then upgraded to a vehicle fire.  They were also receiving calls about a possible structure fire in the same area. Box 6-02 was transmitted. City crews responding to the initial call of the vehicle fire  reported heavy smoke visible on approach and discovered a material delivery truck on Muhlenberg St whose crane had come in contact with live power lines and set the truck on fire. The fire extended to the structures on either side of Muhlenberg St.  The fire was quickly knocked down by city crews limiting damage to the truck and exterior of the structures.
