Mt. Penn Fire Company

Early Monday Blues

Monday got off to a quick start in Exeter Township. At 12:30a.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched, along with several other companies to the 4700 block of Killian Ave. in the township for a reported structure fire. PD and first arriving units confirmed a working garage fire and that everyone had safely evacuated the home. Two lines were quickly pulled and the ladder crew ventilated the structure. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes as personnel opened the walls and ceilings to check for any remaining fire. By 2a.m. everything was turned back over to the homeowner and crews were able to clear the scene.

At 8:20a.m. Mt. Penn and Exeter were dispatched, along with EMS, to the intersection of Saint Lawrence Ave. & Perkiomen Ave. in St. Lawrence for a vehicle crash with injuries. Arriving units found 2 heavily damaged vehicles in traffic with 1 person having multiple minor injuries. EMS transported the victim to the hospital. Crews powered down the vehicles and applied oil dry to a large amount of fluids down. They stood by until the tow company removed both vehicles and were able to clear shortly before 9a.m. This crash is under investigation by Central Berks Police.
