Mt. Penn Fire Company

Early morning Exeter structure fire

On March 17th, shortly before 7:20a.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched along with several other surrounding companies to 600 Limekiln Rd. in Exeter for a reported structure fire. Multiple calls were being received by the communications center indicating an outbuilding well involved. Arriving units found exactly that and quickly pulled 2 lines to contain the fire and protect the nearby residence. During these efforts part of a brick wall collapsed which briefly trapped a firefighter by the legs. A mayday was called and they were quickly extricated and turned over to EMS by their fellow firefighters. Final extinguishment and overhaul took another hour with companies beginning to clear by 8:45a.m. The injured firefighter was taken to RHMC for evaluation and was released within a few hours with minor injuries. The fire was contained to the original structure and the cause is under investigation by the township & state police fire marshal.
