Engine and Rescue assist Exeter on structure fire

MtPennExeter

On January 21 about 2:15p.m. Company 7 (Birdsboro) Safety Officer Steve Rhoads was passing through the 6200 block of Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Township when he noticed a large amount of smoke in the area.  Upon checking further he found a working fire in a large garage at 6221 Perkiomen Ave. and had the structure fire assignment dispatched.  Shortly after their arrival command requested Engine and Rescue 1 for additional manpower. Responding crews had heavy fire and smoke in the second floor of a 2 story garage which was being used as a living area.  2 lines were used to knock down the fire while other personnel performed ventilation and overhaul operations.  Mt. Penn crews were able to return to station in about an hour.
