On January 19 shortly before 11p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched to 3178 Morgantown Rd. (Route 10) in Robeson Township to assist Company 23 (Gibralter) and 24 (Geigertown) for a reported structure fire. On arrival crews from the responding companies found a well involved home on the property of Route 10 Auto Sales. The ladder crew split up in order to ladder the building and perform a search. Several ventilation holes were placed in the roof in order to improve conditions for crews making an attack on the fire. Soon after the last opening was made, fire began venting from those openings as well as the front of the second floor and roof operations had to be terminated. As the fire was brought under control crews from the responding companies remained on the scene for several hours in order to assist with overhaul of the structure and ensure the fire was completely extinguished. In addition to the fire, crews had to contend with cold and windy conditions as well as ice caused by water runoff. The fire remains under investigation by the PA State Police Fire Marshal.
