On September 8 at 5:15p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched to assist Exeter (Co25) with a reported roof fire at 4834 Farming Ridge Blvd in the Farming Ridge development. Chief 25 reported smoke showing before his arrival and asked for another engine which added Engine 1 to the call. On arrival a well involved roof and attic area was encountered which began to collapse soon after, forcing the crews to evacuate the building for a short time after which they were able to re-enter the building to complete extinguishment. An extensive amount of overhaul was required to ensure the fire was completely out and Mt. Penn was able clear shortly before 7p.m. Fortunately the residents were able to safely escape and no injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation by the Fire Marshall.
