On August 12, shortly before 2a.m. several companies, including Mt. Penn for RIT were dispatched to assist Blandon(Co12) with a reported structure fire at at 1106 Maidencreek Rd in the township. As units were enroute the police reported a working fire with flames visible and apparently nobody home. First arriving fire units found the home with a working fire in the attic area. A request for 4 additional tankers was quickly made by Chief 12(Miller) since there are no hydrants in the area. Several lines were quickly pulled with porta-ponds and a fill site established. The bulk of the fire was knocked down with overhaul by 2:15a.m with all searches negative. It is believed that the occupants were away at the time. Units began clearing by 3a.m. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
