Mt. Penn Building Collapse

On February 10th at 10p.m. Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace(Co4) were dispatched to 2311 Grant St. in the boro for a reported building collapse & odor of natural gas. Deputy 1(Eisenhard) arrived and confirmed the dispatch although no natural gas odor was detected and building was unoccupied. Companies worked to secure the area and stood by until utility crews secured the power and gas to the building. The codes department condemned the building and will be working with the boro and engineering company to coordinate future action. All units were able to clear by 11:45p.m.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
