On February 18 shortly after 12:30a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched to assist Oley (Co5) and several other companies for a reported structure fire at 456 Main St.  Response time for the first arriving units was short as this is just up the street from Oley’s station.  They found heavy fire on the second and third floor rear of the house with involvement of the side porch as well.  The occupants were able to evacuate safely before the arrival of emergency units.  A nearby hydrant provided water for the several lines that were stretched while ground ladders were placed as additional access points because of wires and other obstructions that made access with aerial trucks difficult.   The fire was placed under control in about 30 minutes but extensive overhaul was needed to ensure everything was out.  Crews were able to begin clearing the scene shortly after 3a.m.  This fire is still being investigated.
