Mt. Penn Fire Company

Sizzling Sunday

On July 23rd just after 9a.m. cooking breakfast quickly got out of control.  Mt. Penn was dispatched along with Earl (Co19), Alsace (Co8), Ruscombmanor (Co34), Fleetwood (Co45) and Exeter (Co25) to assist Oley (Co5) on the structure fire at 3339 Friedensburg Rd.  The first arriving chief from Oley reported a working fire with fire through the roof at one end of the building.  L1 was set up in the front for possible master stream use in case the fire spread to a storage/work area just to the rear of the structure but it turns out it wasn’t needed.  The crews from the engine and rescue assisted with ventilation and extinguishment.  Oley EMS and Canteen 9 were on scene to provide food and drinks to everybody on this slightly cooler but still very humid summer morning. The crews from Mt. Penn were able to clear and return to station just before noon.
