On Feb 26 just before 7a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company for a reported structure fire at 785 Hill Rd. Dispatch information stated flames from the roof and the first units to arrived confirmed a working fire. A second alarm and additional tankers were called for by command. The crew from Mt. Penn had their assignment changed from RIT to fire attack once the second alarm RIT companies arrived on scene. Due to cluttered conditions in the structure the fire proved difficult to locate and extinguish. One firefighter received minor injuries when the floor gave way. Several pets also did not survive the fire. Mt. Penn was released shortly before 9:30a.m. The exact cause of this fire is still under investigation.
