On February 20 shortly before 9a.m. the spill trailer was dispatched to 1273 W. Philadelphia Ave. in Colebrookdale Twp. to assist Boyertown Area Fire/Rescue(Co95) with a tractor trailer crash that was leaking large amounts of diesel fuel and heading towards the Ironstone Creek. The driver had lost control of his vehicle and ran off the right side of the road, up and over a private driveway and down the other side rupturing the passenger side saddle tank. Boyertown units were able to quickly place their limited supply of booms and pads down around the truck and into the culvert to slow the flow to the creek. When Mt. Penn arrived they provided additional booms and pads to further stop the flow and absorb the diesel. Colebrookdale Twp. road crew provided sand which was used to reinforce the booms in the marshy area closer to the creek. Units then stood by until the tow company was able to remove the vehicle at which time additional pads were placed in the culvert. Mt. Penn was able to clear the scene shortly before noon and the road was reopened about 1p.m.
