Structure fire call in Mt. Penn

StrucutreFireOn April 9th just after 12 noon Mt. Penn was dispatched with Lower Alsace, Birdsboro and City of Reading crews to 223 Oak Terrace in Mt. Penn for a possible structure fire. Crews found moderate smoke in the first floor and soon discovered fire in the walls behind and adjacent to the fireplace which was in use.  One line was pulled to extinguish the fire and a second line was pulled to the second floor as a precaution.  The incident was placed under control by 12:30pm and remains under further investigation.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
