Structure fire in Oley

On April 8, shortly after 7p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with Earl (Co19), Amity (Co49), Boyertown (Co95), Alsace Manor (Co8), Ruscombmanor (Co34) and Fleetwood (Co45) to 3197 W. Philadelphia Ave (Route 73) for a confirmed working structure fire.  Arriving units found a single house with fire on the first floor and laid a supply line from Rose Virginia Rd to the scene to ensure a good water supply.  As the Oley crew began fire attack they were able to get both dogs safely out of the residence.   Once other units arrived they did additional forcible entry and secured the utilities, opened multiple ventilation points and  placed multiple ground ladders around the building.  The fire was quickly contained and knocked down.  Additional opening up of wall and ceiling spaces showed minimal extension although the entire house suffered heavy smoke damage.  The cause remains under investigation.  Crews were able to return shortly before 9p.m.
