Mt. Penn Fire Company

Tuesday is Variety Day continues…..Part III

For the third Tuesday in a row the streak continues….

Just after 5 p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched for the QRS run to the 2600 block of Perkiomen Ave. for an older male with breathing problems.  The crew obtained vital signs and administered oxygen to assist with breathing until EMS arrived.  They then helped get him to the ambulance from the second floor bedroom down a very steep staircase.

While on the medical call, the engine was dispatched to assist Exeter (Co25) for a reported vehicle fire at Butter Lane & Bingaman St.  Deputy 1-1(Eisenhard) reported a large column of smoke visible from the medical call location.  On arrival Engine 1 reported a well involved pickup truck and pulled two lines in order to extinguish the fire.  Crews were able to clear the scene by 6p.m.

Just after 8:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company when Wyomissing (Co79) struck the second alarm for a house fire at 413 Oley St. in their borough.  The rescue was on scene for about 30 minutes before being released from the scene by command.

In between the calls this evening we did manage to fit in a rescue tool demonstration, make final plans for FASTNACHTS this weekend and have a truck crew meeting where some personnel changes were made.
