Mt. Penn Fire Company

Water, water everywhere

On July 9th our area experienced severe and prolonged rain starting in the early afternoon and continuing until evening which quickly caused Antietam Creek to overflow which appears to be the root cause of most of the problems that arose in the Antietam area. During this storm Mt. Penn, along with Exeter(Co25), Lower Alsace(Co4) and several other companies as well as police, EMS, utilities and road crews responded to a multitude of calls that included flooded basements, water rescues, trees and wires down, structure fires, structure collapse, gas odors etc. The overall damage is still being assessed and will more than likely continue for much of the coming week as the cleanup begins.
