Assist to Lower Alsace on crash

On July 3rd just before 10a.m. the Rescue was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace (Co4) on a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the Northbound side of the 600 block of Carsonia Ave.  First arriving units found one vehicle had struck a father and young child causing serious injuries.  EMS was requested to expedite and then a third ambulance was requested to evaluate the driver of the vehicle.  The injured were taken to the Reading Hospital.  Central Berks Regional Police along with fire police had the road closed for several hours while they conducted their investigation.  R1 was able to return to station within 30 minutes.  Exact details of this incident remain under investigation by the police.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
