Assist to Lower Alsace on early morning structure fire

StrucutreFire

On August 20th at 5a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with Lower Alsace (Co4) and Exeter (Co 25) to 515 N. 26th St. in Lower Alsace for a reported basement fire.  Police units arriving reported smoke showing from the residence.  Fortunately all occupants were able to safely escape prior to the arrival of fire units who found a fire in the basement that involved the dryer and surrounding materials with extension to the structure.  Crews from L1 located and contained the fire to the immediate area while E25 stretched a line to complete extinguishment. E1 supplied E25 from a nearby hydrant while crews from E4 stretched a secondary line and ventilated the structure and performed a search with the rest of the L1 crew.  The search turned up the owner’s cat which was removed and reunited with the residents.  Damage was contained to the immediate area of the dryer and all crews were returned to station by 6:15am.  The township Fire Marshal is investigating.
