E1 assists on second alarm in Reading

On September 29th right at midnight, E1 was dispatched to 1036 Buttonwood St. in the City of Reading to assist on a second alarm structure fire.  City crews had arrived earlier with a well involved residence.  They discovered the fire had spread to the next house at 1034 Buttonwood St. as well.  The E1 crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul at the scene and returned to station shortly after 2 a.m.   This fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.

The mission of the Mt. Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
