On March 9 at approximately 1:40am Engine 1 was called to assist the City of Reading on a 2nd alarm structure fire at 1224 Perkiomen Ave. City crews had heavy fire venting out the back of the structure on arrival at a large vacant home. The Engine 1 crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul of multiple void spaces before being released at approximately 3:30am. Ladder 1 and numerous other county companies remained on standby for the city until being released.
