Engine & Ladder assist Exeter on structure fire

MtPennExeter

On July 4 shortly after 9pm E1 was dispatched to assist Exeter with a reported structure fire at 4132 Steeple Chase Drive in the Hunter’s Run development.  Additional information to responding units indicated a working fire and all occupants out which was confirmed by command on arrival.  A second alarm was struck which brought L1 to the scene.  Responding units had a well involved, attached 2 car garage with extension into the structure in the kitchen and 2nd floor bedroom area as well as running across the front porch.  Crews from Exeter and E1 stretched multiple lines to extinguish the fire and protect the house next door which had heavy damage to the siding from radiant heat.  L1 crews placed multiple ground ladders to the front and rear of the structure and performed ventilation on the porch roof and second floor.  Additional crews from Lower Alsace (Co 4), Gibralter (Co 23) and Birdsboro (Co 7) provided extra manpower to assist with overhaul and RIT functions.  Company 1 cleared the scene just before midnight and remained on standby for any additional calls in Exeter.  The exact cause is under investigation by the Exeter Fire and Police Departments.
