On September 10 just after 3a.m. L1 was dispatched to assist E4 (Lower Alsace) on an AFA at 721 Carsonia Ave, Klinger’s on Carsonia. The police and Deputy 4 (Yohn) arrived shortly after dispatch and reported a working fire with flames from a roof vent. The assignment was upgraded to a structure fire with additional help coming from Exeter (Co25), Birdsboro (Co7), Alsace (Co8), Laureldale (Co13) and Amity (Co49). Crews found heavy fire in the first floor kitchen area which appeared to be gas fed. There was extension to the roof and vent system over the kitchen area as well as up the inside of the wall to the second floor. Fortunately all of the occupants in the second floor apartment were able to escape. Several areas in the roof and exterior walls were opened up for ventilation and to check for extension. Crews secured the gas and were able to get most of the fire knocked down within 20 minutes using several lines. Extensive overhaul was needed to ensure the fire was completely out. Crews were able to clear just after 6a.m. The fire is believed to be accidental according to the township fire marshal.
