Despite the clouds and an early drizzle, the Ladder & Rescue made the trip to the Exeter Home Depot to meet with units from Exeter, Gibraltar, Geigertown, Brecknock, West Reading, Monocacy, Life Lion EMS, Birdsboro and the Reading Fire Scuba Unit to attend their monthly Kids Workshop. Since October is also the month where Fire Prevention week falls the kids build a project that is fire related such as a pumper or fire station bank. The project this year was a fireboat. With help from their families the kids completed building the boats and then painted them a wide variety of color schemes. Once the paint was dry they were able to take a close look at the apparatus and equipment the various companies have as well as participate in other activities or get fire prevention stickers and coloring books. The event finished up at noon with quite a bit of noise as the trucks departed! We would like to thank the Exeter Home Depot for inviting us and continuing this wonderful event.
