Mt. Penn Sinkhole Rescue

On January 31st at 11:37p.m. Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace (Co 4) along with EMS and police were dispatched to the area of 23rd St. & Howard Blvd. for a reported male trapped in a hole. On arrival, and after some brief looking, Deputy 1-1 (Kline) and PD found a male at the bottom of a 7ft hole with no apparent injuries and also no way of getting out on his own due to depth and loose nature of the ground. The crew from R1 placed a roof ladder in the hole and the man was able to climb out unassisted. He was evaluated by EMS and found to be not injured. Crews cordoned off the area and placed a large pallet over the hole and were able to clear just after midnight. The property owner and Boro will follow up to take care of the problem.
